The City of Akron is taking important steps to make our streets safer for everyone, whether you’re driving, walking, biking, or using transit. Through a Safe Streets for All (SS4A) grant, Akron is building on existing efforts to reduce serious crashes and move closer to a future with zero traffic-related deaths and injuries.

This project focuses on developing Safety Action Plans for two key areas: East Akron and Copley-Maple. Using data from the region’s High Injury Network, which identifies where the most severe crashes occur, the City is taking a closer look at specific corridors and intersections where safety improvements are most needed.

Project goals include

  • REFINE CORRIDOR SAFETY PRIORITIES USING DATA-DRIVEN ANALYSIS

  • IDENTIFY AND EVALUATE CONTEXT-SENSITIVE SAFETY COUNTERMEASURES

  • ESTABLISH FEASIBILITY AND COST-EFFECTIVENESS FOR IMPLEMENTATION

  • DEVELOP A PHASED, ACTIONABLE IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

  • ADVANCE EQUITABLE SAFETY OUTCOMES IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES
